Special Baggage

General

If you are bringing more bags/parcels than what is included in your ticket, you need to buy extra baggage. Buy extra baggage by doing one of the following:

  • Skiis or golf bag can be purchased during your booking at flygbra.se (no later than 1 hour prior to departure)
  • After booking* at flygbra.se by clicking "Change booking" and specify surname and booking reference and go to Add Services (no later than 1 hour prior to departure)
  • Contact our Customer Center (no later than 1 hour prior to departure)
  • Through your travel agency (no later than 1 hour prior to departure)

Extra/special luggage that has not been paid in advance is subject to available capacity.

If you have reduced mobility and you need to bring a helping aid, for example a wheelchair/rollator, you can do that in addition to the baggage that is included in your ticket. Please contact our Customer Center to pre-inform that you are travelling with a wheelchair. 

If you are travelling with a child, you can bring a stroller or car seat in addition to the baggage that are included in your ticket. See more information further down this page. 

Refund of extra baggage

Do you regret buying extra baggage? You can cancel your extra baggage and get a full refund up to 3 hours prior to departure. After that, no refund of extra baggage can be made. To cancel your extra baggage, please contact our Customer Center or your travel agency, depending on where you booked your ticket.

Equipment that are not allowed at us at Braathens Regional Airlines: 
Hoverboard, segway, surf board, electrical bicycle.

Baby stroller/car seat/baby cover

If you are travelling with an infant (0-23 months) or a child (2-11 year), you are allowed to bring a stroller and/or a car seat in addition to the baggage that are included in your ticket.

Baby stroller

The baby stroller should be wrapped up, to protect the baby stroller to get the other baggage dirty, but also as a protection for the stroller. If you do not have any packaging, you can buy a stroller bag at check-in. 

We do not accept cash, American Express or Diners, only VISA and Eurocard. 

The stroller wheels should stay on the stroller during the flight, to reduce the damage risk of the stroller and other baggage. If it is possible to detach the lying/sitting part from the chassis, this needs to be done and packed in two separate baby stroller bags, Braathens Regional Airlines offers these two bags to the price of one. It is not allowed to pack any other baggage in these bags.

Baby car seat/cover

The baby car seat/cover should be wrapped up. If you do not have any packaging, you can buy a stroller bag at check-in.

At Braathens Regional Airlines, we care about the environment, so plese re-use the baby stroller bags.

Bicycle

If you wish to bring your bicycle, it counts as a checked bag with a maximum weight of 23 kg/bag. If you are travelling with only a bicycle and no checked baggage, you do not need to pre-inform us that you are travelling with a bicyle. 

Bicycle without battery

Before departure, you need to prepare your bicycle as following:

  1. Detach the pedals.
  2. Point the handlebar parallelly with the frame.
  3. Reduce the air pressure in the tires.
  4. Maximum weight is 32kg
  5. Maximum dimension of bicykle is 158cm (length+width+height)
  6. If needed, sharp parts on the bicycle need to be protected with plastic or cardboard, to minimize the risk of damaging other baggage.
  7. If you are travelling from Bromma Airport, the front wheel needs to be detached due to the x-ray equipment's size. 

Other packaging is not necessary, but we recommend you to get the bicycle plasticized to not get dirt on other baggage. 

Bring your own tools to detach the bicycle's different parts. 

Electric bicycle/scooter with battery

Bicycles with a battery is classified as dangerous goods and cannot be flown with Braathens Regional Airlines. A regular bicycle is permitted, see information above. 

Hövding - Bicycle helmet

Braathens Regional Airlines does not accept Hövding on board our flights.

Diving equipment

If you wish to bring diving equipment, it counts as checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg/bag. If you are travelling with a diving equipment weighing no more than 23 kg, and no other cheched baggage, you do not need to pre-inform us that you are travelling with diving equipment. 

With diving equipment, we mean that you are transporting equipment that contains: gas storage/cylinders and lead weights. The oxygen tank/gas storage has to be empty and the valve open.

In addition to this equipment, you can also bring the following accessories: regulator package, diving west, inflator tube, dump valve, diving mask (cyclop), depth finder, manometer, watch, knife, diving lamp, compass, duo tightrope, diving flippers, snorkel, drysuit/wetsuit, whistle, diving flag.

Golf bag

If you wish to bring a golf bag, it counts as checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg. If you are travelling with only a golf bag, and no other checked baggage, you do not need to pre-inform us that you are travelling with a golf bag. 

How to book an extra golf bag:

  • A golf bag can be bought during your booking at flygbra.se (no later than 1 hour before departure)
  • Contact our Customer Center (no later than 1 hour before departure)
  • Through your travel agency (no later than 1 hour before departure)

Avalanche backpack

If you wish to bring an avalanche backpack, it counts as a checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg/bag. You can also bring your backpack as carry-on baggage, as long as it does not exceed our allowed measurements: 40x50x25 cm, maximum weight 8 kg. 

To guarantee our security rules and to make the handling of your avalanche backpack easier, it is very important that you read the information and answer a couple of questions about you and the backpack in a form. The form will be the foundation for our decision to allow or deny transportation. Note! Send the form to Braathens Regional Airlines no later than 48 hours prior to planned trip. 

Form for avalanche backpack

Restrictions for avalanche backpacks: one (1) avalanche backpack per passenger is allowed in subject to:

  • The backpack is packed in a way it cannot accidentally fold out. 
  • The air bags inside the backpack is equipped with pressure relief valves. 
  • The backpack, if it is equipped with pyrotechnical mechanism, cannot contain more than 200 mg net weight of explosive substance in division 1.4S(*)
  • The gas cylinder contains a maximum of 250 ml pressurized gas in division 2.2 (**)
  • You have filled in the electronic form and have gotten an approval from us.

 (*) 1.4S is a subcategory in the group 'explosive substances' and constitutes no risk or a low risk of danger under transportation. 

(**) 2.2 is a subcategory to the group 'gases' and are flameproof and not toxic. 

Music instruments

If you wish to bring an instrument, it counts as checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg/bag. 

Violin, guitar and other smaller instruments

Checked instruments must be packed in a hard case that tolerates shipping. If the flight is not fully booked, you are allowed to bring your instrument of this size class on-board as a carry-on baggage. That is to be decided by the airport personnel at the time of check-in at the airport. 

Cello and similar instruments in the same size class

For cellos and similar instruments of this size, there are two possibilities to bring your instrument:  

Alternative 1: Check-in your instrument as baggage

Checked instruments have to be packed in a hard case that tolerates shipping. If this requirement is not fulfilled, you will be denied bringing the instrument.  

Contrabass and other larger instruments

Due to the size of the instrument, it is not possible for us to store the instrument in the cabin, hence you have to check it in. Checked instruments have to be packed in a hard case that tolerates shipping. If this requirement is not fulfilled, you will be denied bringing the instrument. If the total weight for the instrument exceeds 23 kg, a cost for overweight baggage will be charged. 

Skis/waterskis

If you wish to bring a pair of skis in a ski case, it counts as one checked in baggage ith a maximum weight of 23 kg/bag. If you are travelling with one ski case only that weighs no more than 23 kg, and no other checked in baggage, you do not need to pre-inform us about you travelling with skis. 

If you wish to bring skis, it counts as checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg/bag. If you are travelling med only a case containing skis/waterskis/snowboard/wakeboard weighing no more than 23 kg and you have no checked baggage, you do not need to pre-inform us that you are travelling with it. 

This is how you book an extra ski package:

  • A ski package can be bought when booking your flight at flygbra.se (no later than 1 hour before departure) 
  • After your booking is created, at flygbra.se by clicking on "Change booking", specify surname and booking reference and go to Add Services (no later than 1 hour before departure)
  • Contact our Customer Center (no later than 1 hour before departure)
  • Through your travel agency (no later than 1 hour before departure)

Urn

Urns for funerals are accepted as carry-on baggage and do not need to be pre-booked as extra baggage. The following criterias need to be met:

  • The urn should be professionally sealed and packed for transport in a neutral package. 
  • The urn can only contain ashes and possibly a name plaque.
  • The urn needs to follow our carry-on baggage rules.
  • The passenger needs to have all essential documentation needed (can be acquired from the funeral bureau).
  • The sealed and packed urn should be placed under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin.

Firearms/ Weapons / Competition weapons / Ammunitions transport

Handling fee (per weapon and route)
SEK 450/€ 45

We charge a fee of SEK 450 per weapong/route for handling your weapon. A separate bag for transportation of the weapong is included in this fee. 

You always need to pre-inform us that you are travelling with a weapon, through our Kundcenter or through your travel agency.

The fee is applied on all types of weapons, for example air guns, rifles and soft guns. 

According to the law, it is forbidden to bring firearms in the cabin.

Note that all of Braathens Regional Airlines's Service Centers are cash free. 

Weapon transport

  1. You are responsible to inform our check-in personnel that you are checking in with an unloaded weapon and show your weapon license. 
  2. The license needs to be issued by the Police Authority and must be physically presentable. Parts of the weapon, such as a weapon receiver (slutstycke), shall be equated with firearms according to the Swedish law of weapons, and requires a license if transported by air. Officials travelling with service weapons present their service badge as equivalent to a weapons licence.
  3. The weapon is divided into vital part and other parts or equipped with a weapon lock;
    • If the weapon is divided into vital parts and other parts, the separated parts shall be stored in two separated suitable bags equipped with weapon tags.
    • If the weapon is equipped with a weapon lock, then the weapon can be stored in one suitable bag equipped with weapon tag. 
  4. The person travelling should display the license for their own weapon. An exemption can be made if you bring an approved application from the Police for loan of weapon, according to Ch. 2, 9 § weapons law, (1996:67), (RPS 551.26.11-04).
  5. At arrival, the weapon will not be placed on the arriving baggage claim. The weapon is to be handed over, after an ID control, to the passenger who checked the weapon. Contact Braathens Regional Airlines at arrival, and we will help you with the transfer.

Fill in the declaration that you bring and leave at check in, if you have a return trip you need two copies.

Ammunitions transport

  1. You are allowed to bring a maximum of 5 kg. Ammuniation should be placed in the checked baggage, in its original packaging, where the shells are well separated from each other. They cannot lie loose in a box. 
  2. The ammunition should be securely packed and separated from the weapon in a separate bag. If you choose to diassemble the weapon, the ammunition can be put in the same bag as the trigger guard. 
  3. We do not accept that you bundle your ammunition with other passengers, with a larger amount than 5 kg being packed in one bag.
  4. If you need to transport larger amounts than 5 kg, we refer you to other transportation companies. 

Weapon container

Braathens Regional Airlines does not sell this type of accessories.

Abroad

We do not accept weapons and ammunition transportations on our routes abroad.

Valueable baggage

If the checked baggage is damaged, delayed or lost during transportation with Braathens Regional Airlines, Braathens Regional Airlines's responsibilities are limited to 1131 SDR (Special drawing right). Normal terms for packing is applied.  

Valuable items that are not allowed to check-in:

It is not allowed to bring cash, keys, prescribed medications, jewels, passports and other ID documentations, noble metals, fragile items, computers, cellphones, electrical devices, value documents, security papers, business documents or other important or valuable items in the checked baggage.
